Plan Requirements
Guidelines for Submitted Plans
Plans are required to have the name, address, and telephone number of the person and/or firm that drew the plans. Submitted plans must be drawn to scale, preferably 1/4"=1', with all dimensions shown. Plans must show or indicate the following:
  • Square footage of all occupied heated space, garages, storage areas, porches, and decks
  • Intended use of all rooms and spaces
  • Size, space, grade, and species of all framing members (including girders, floor and ceiling joists, rafters, headers, etc.)
  • Load-bearing walls and point loads
  • Footing width, thickness, and pier size and height
  • Foundation ventilation calculation with square inches of net free area and type of vents
  • The engineer’s and/or manufacturer’s design data and installation instructions must be provided if engineered building components such as LVLs, trusses, I-joists, etc. are to be used
    • If you are not able to provide at the time of permit application then this information must be provided prior to scheduling the framing inspection
  • Size of doors and windows (percentage of window openings and glazing should also be shown)
  • R-value of insulation that is to be used
